Mr Mokolobate GD, a teacher from Ramotshere Secondary school who was stabbed to death by a leaner laid to rest.

Mr Gadimang Daniel Mokolobate, a Maths teacher who was attached to Ramotshere Secondary School in Dinokana (Lehurutshe) was stabbed to death by a Grade 10 learner at the school on the 13th of September 2018. He was laid to rest on the 22nd September at the Ramatlabama (Miga village) cemetery.

During his memorial service which was held at Lehurutshe civic centre on the 20th of September, the National Deputy President of SADTU Mabutho Cele spoke strongly to the parent community to take a leading role in the discipline of their own children. He further on urged the department to intensify security in schools and ensure that learners who commit serious misconduct like this are dealt with in accordance. In response, the minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshega who also graced the occasion with her presence, acknowledged that the security in schools need to be strengthened. She went on to echo a word of condolence to the bereaved family and promised them that the department will do everything in its power to ensure that the departed get the justice that he deserve.

 

 

Subsequent to the burial of Mr Mokolobate, the Oupa Bethuel Randa SADTU region held a march on the 27th of September in protest of lack of security in schools and other related matters. The North West Provincial SADTU president Mxolisi Bomvana, handed the memorandum to the Ngaka Modiri Molema District director who was accompanied by the Ramotshere Moiloa Sub-district manager.
